Root Canal Treatmentin Parel, Mumbai
What is a root canal treatment?
A root canal treatment (RCT) removes infected or inflamed pulp from inside a tooth, cleans and seals the canals, and lets you keep your natural tooth instead of extracting it. It's done under local anaesthesia, so most patients feel pressure rather than pain. A crown is usually placed afterwards to protect the tooth.
Who is Root Canal Treatment for?
It may help if you notice any of these:
- Severe or lingering toothache
- Pain when biting or chewing
- Sensitivity to hot or cold that lasts after the trigger is gone
- A swollen gum or pimple-like bump near a tooth
Only a dental check-up can confirm what you need. These signs are a guide, not a diagnosis.
What happens at your visit?
- Step 1
Diagnosis
Examination and a dental X-ray show how far the infection has spread.
- Step 2
Numbing
The area is numbed with local anaesthesia before treatment begins.
- Step 3
Cleaning & sealing
Infected pulp is removed, the canals are cleaned, shaped and sealed.
- Step 4
Crown
A crown is usually recommended to protect the treated tooth long-term.

Recovery and how long it takes
- Treatment takes one to three sittings depending on the tooth and the infection — you'll know after the X-ray.
- Numbness from the local anaesthetic wears off within a few hours; avoid chewing on that side until it does.
- Mild soreness or tenderness when biting is common for a few days and usually settles.
- Avoid hard foods on the tooth until the final filling and crown are in place, as it can crack.
- Contact the clinic if swelling increases, pain gets worse instead of better, or you develop a fever.
General guidance — your own timeline is explained at your consultation.
